Summary
Yukito Urabe is the son of a cult founder who worships the omnipotent god, Mitama. To become the next guru of the organization, Yukito participates in a ritual, but it ends up costing him his life. In his final moments, he wishes to be reincarnated in a world without gods and religion.Just as he desired, Yukito wakes up in a village in a strange and godless world. While gradually bonding with the people around him and adjusting to his new life, he soon discovers this world’s grisly reality. As citizens of the ruling empire reach a certain age, they are legally obligated to take their own lives. Furthermore, the villagers that Yukito has grown to know are deemed abnormal by the government for their fear of death.
When Yukito and his newfound friends face execution for disobeying orders, Mitama—the god from Yukito’s past life—appears before him and saves them. Clear proof of Mitama’s existence reshapes Yukito’s warped perceptions, and he realizes that the faith he despises is the key to protecting his new life. Using his previous experiences to create a Mitama-centric religion, Yukito seeks to unite the people under a common ideal to fight against the empire’s unjust rule.

Summary
Under the belief that the omnipotent god Mitama will come to save him, Yukito Urabe participates in a ritual to become the new leader of his father's cult. But when the boy drowns during the ritual, he wishes to be reborn in a world without gods or religion.Reawakening in a completely different world devoid of spirituality. He meets a deviant girl named Aruaru, who introduces him to her village. However, his idyllic image of this world’s society is short-lived when he witnesses a public group suicide and learns of the country’s end-of-life system: at any moment, the government may order any citizen to die.
Aruaru and her sister are forcibly taken for execution soon after, prompting Yukito to rush to their rescue—but to no avail. In a moment of desperation, Yukito recalls his father’s teachings and utters a prayer for Mitama to save them. Seemingly answering his call, a little girl descends from the sky and annihilates everyone who harmed Yukito and his friends. To Yukito’s surprise, the girl introduces herself as Mitama.
